Made by LeMetrez, Paris, about 1910, typically called opera glasses, Fabt. means maker in this context, abbreviated of course.

More likely quite minor maker, that no one has bothered to mention on the internet. Often when things do not show up it is because no one cares enough to upload someting about them.

At least they have a mention now.

Jivvy the research is my favorite

If you're really super curious, you can go to https://gallica.bnf.fr/ and search on: LeMetrez jumelles

There are 59 hits. I don't know if any are truly about a company that made binoculars.

I save my slogging through French/google translate for cameos. :p

Oh, goodness! My aunt and uncle had season's tickets to the Greek Theater outside of Griffith Park. Quite frequently my aunt would take me or my sister with them for the evening, picnic dinner in the park and then walk to "The Greek" and settle in for the show. There was always, always a lovely lady down front renting opera glasses. Her voice would carry and I can still hear it: AHPERRRA GLAHSSES, AHPERRRA GLAHSSES! The r was rolled and the a was ah. Saw "Swan Lake" multiple times, bunches of other really wonderful productions. The best was Neil Diamond: Hot August Nights!

They look very similar to a Paris Opera House set of binoculars I have from that era. I wonder if they have the same manufacturer.

@Sedona the one on eBay says "lemaire" not "lemetrez".
