French country rabbits painting on board

    They have a glossy varnished surface but I definitely see and feel some raised brush strokes

    Why do you think French?

    One appears to be signed Byron but the other looks like Boyd to me.

    Byron as a surname would typically be an English name and Boyd would be a Scottish name.

    I agree, Byron and Boyd are not French names.

    I was intrigued by the title of this thread, because I was curious to see French country rabbits that were painting on board. Something like this:

    Difficult to say, but very possible they are Chinese.

    Yes, Chinese I would think. Recent decorative import.

    when looking at the ill-fitting assembly of the inner and outer frame it could indeed be a French postwar tinkering sold to US-soldiers.
