An unusual bracelet with stylized snake heads, I think.
Slightly Orientalist. Lovely filigree, and mounted with two facet cut citrines (tested).
French crab marks for .800 silver, and a tiny maker's mark, LV? Something else? I've taken several pics, but can't get the focus better than this.
And does anyone recognize the style/period?

    Crab marks (.800), very worn:

    Maker's mark:

I found a Louis Vuillermet on 925-1000.com, with a snake handled tastevin. bottom of this page:

But that mark has a star between the L and the V. Maybe he changed marks? Or this is someone else's mark.
As always, thank you for looking.

It's very pretty AJ. Sadly I'm clueless about the marks.

Thanks kyra, a great help. Let's hope this is Vallet, and I can find out some more.:bookworm:
A really wonderful site, I have quite a few French items, I have my loupe at the ready.:pompous::cyclops:

Like you I have a feeling this bracelet is antique, the style and feel of the silver, and the crab marks are very worn too.
Do you know why they punch the same mark twice? I've seen it on French jewellery before.

Impossible to find a link now, but I know chains had a code with mark stroke twice on the end ring dependant on the weight. (I think it was with a rhinoceros head mark)
Never heard of that for a rigid bracelet.

Yes, I noticed that on old clasps as well. So two marks would be heavier?

AJ, are you using a tripod with your camera? That can help with the focus! Also, back away a bit....that can help too.....whether a phone or camera!! If it's on a phone, try and have your elbows resting on a solid surface.......AND the Bracelet is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Yep, often double mark on tongue clasp oriented at 90 degrees!

A tripod is too heavy for me. I always take a bigger picture and crop it. And I usually just put the piece of jewellery down on a piece of paper. The problem with this mark was that it is in such an awkward position that I had to hold the bracelet in one hand and the camera in the other. Doesn't really work, I know.:sorry:

It can. Fortunately we have digital cameras now, so we don't have to waste umpteen shots on a tiny mark.:)
