    With a strong magnet...& time...one could eventually find that needle......
    So I'm thinking the term should be changed to.. Tick in a haystack ...

    But that's just me...:playful::playful::playful:

    Being Dutch, Ger may be able to read it. If he is 'of a certain age', like yours truly, that is.;)

    I think that's what we call in English "The Lord's Prayer."

    I don’t understand, why one would sign like that on a prayer. :)

    Since it is 'the Lord's Prayer', the words Jesus recommends when asked what to say when praying, perhaps the J__ is for Jesus ___. It is Matthew 6:9-13, so maybe not a date but indicator of chapter & verse? A 'bit' tortured, I know, but...

    Well I.am a certain age :oldman: but French is not my strongest point . It was sold to me as the Lords Prayer ? There's is a point in the signing with the monogram on a prayer . So who is able to read some French maybe ?

    I just found this so looks to as the prayer https://www.lonweb.org/ourfather/pn-fr-ing.htm

    Didn't take the time to decipher it fully but it does indeed appear to be The Lord's Prayer. By an unknown writer and sure to remain so as there were +30 million people in France in 1831 and an additional number in its colonies. Initialed by its transcriber which (personally) I don't find odd. Am I missing something?

    Well maybe the fact that it has been saved end framed later in this frame to keep . So it must be something special for somebody who did that and the people before the last owner . + the fact that is has a monogram and date could be a link maybe . There's also a handwriting that's maybe to be linked to a known French speaking person with a known personality . Long shot but you never know :bookworm:

    What frame? I don't see a frame. (And I don't believe you mentioned in your query that it was framed.)

    Been searching on the net and found out that soldiers where taking notes with them small with the Lords Prayer as a amulet to guide them in war . So could be something like that maybe ? The size in cm is 10.8 by 4.7 . So help needed to find maybe more soldiers amulets ?:bookworm:

    And I checked the version in off the prayer and the last piece is longer so who is able to read this for me ?
