Furrin hallmark - where from?

    The left punch looks like 2 G in a square, the right one isn't much clearer than the picture. I imagine a woman a big bottomed dress when I look at it.

    Tests as solid silver, around sterling.

    My best guess - French silverplate, The 20 on the left gives the number of grams of silver used in plating. The other square is the maker's mark. We'll need a better focused image to see the details on that one.

    fur 005.JPG fur 007.JPG That would have been my guess too but the 2G is not 20. The stamps are not much clearer than the pictures.

    Now I see that as well - 2g still means how many grams used in plating. 2 is a lot less than 20, I admit. Very thin layer.

    '2G' isn't particularly uncommon on small French silverplate holloware items like this - can't make out the manufacturer...

    But a deep scratch and acid say it's not plate
