Featured Gem ID in flower earrings

So, these earrings, dug out of a box of scrap, are marked 925 ( after I cleaned layers of filth off them) , which is fine but those little pink stones..... give me a slow but positive on my cheapy diamond tester. 1 red bar immediately on one stone, 1 red bar more reluctantly on the other. Could they be sapphires giving me that reading or low quality diamonds...not convinced.
I know without proper testing it’s impossible to know but what other gems would give a similar reading?

I suspect they're reading that high because the back setting is solid in the silver. Could be pink tourmaline or something, or a synthetic. Or even glass.

 

What she said. Those cheap testers will read Diamond if you tap them on plain old metal sometimes. I suspect glass stones.

 

I need to invest in a better one then!. It’s not reacting on anything else that is known glass, CZ etc so it is a bit unusual for it.

 

Iolite would be another possibility, just based on color. Since gem testers work by measuring thermal conductivity, can see how there would be trouble with a stone so encased in silver.

 

I've had this kind of result from known NON diamonds, say, which had a solid back to the setting. It's worth playing with testers and known stones.

 

I will dig through my hoard to see if I can find a stone with a similar silver surround to test.
