can anyone tell me whether this is genuine and a ballpark value? I thought that the 1881 issue Victorian coins had a younger face on them, so I am a little confused.

    Thanks in advance!

It looks like it trying to be a Sovereign or Half Sovereign.
The head for that date is wrong, the one shown is the Jubilee Head for 1887.

What is the size and weight in grams.?

Casting looks dodgy to me, especially the milled edges. I remember the results in casting class when we had a go at coins where undulations occurred because of the silicone moulds.
