Georgian? Horn snuff box

    Another little waif and stray that has come my way. Sadly damaged (story of my life :rolleyes:) but still a delightful little item.
    My research tells me it could be Georgian - maybe an expert eye on the font could confirm?
    The gold bits test as gold but I’ve run out of anything above 9ct so not sure of the carat.
    My searching also say it’s most likely horn. Approx 1.75” long, just under 1” wide and 10/16” deep.
    Any ideas as to its nationality please?

    Dang, what a shame. I think it's probably pressed tortoiseshell, agree on the date. In good order they are big bucks, and will probably still have a market even like this. With the decoration probably English or French.
