Just wondering if this is likely to be Georgian?
It’s not mine and I’m not buying, just interested. It’s listed on eBay as Georgian (pre 1837) rock crystal.
If it is what defines it as that era?
Thankyou for helping with my idle curiosity. :)

Lovely necklace, but if that clasp is original, I'd say no to Georgian, unless they mean from Georgia (Caucasus or US).;)
Georgian period stones were generally set in a closed back setting. With rock crystal you often get some irisation somewhere.

That’s what I was wondering
Could the prongs date it to Georgian (they def mean the era as pre 1837 was in the specifics :hilarious:)
Lots of bids on it so people think it’s special. I do too but just not sure if it is what they say. £117 at the moment.

The prongs were used pre-1837, but they are still used now.

It may be the design alone driving it. Rock crystal and silver are really attractive. The piece could be georgian-style but I wouldn't say legit Georgian.

I’ve got one similar, jumble sale find from a few years ago. I think I was getting a 7 on the cheapo diamond tester.

I did post it here, think it was thought to be Victorian, was a good find for 50p. Be interesting to see what the EBay one fetches.

Yours is also a beauty, and an incredible bargain.:) A 7 could be rock crystal.

When I bought it I thought it was glass having never heard of rock Crystal and just thinking the chain looked silver. Love the jumbles, missing them so much. There’s been a few on but I’m avoiding most now.

I'd say this is more Edwardian than Georgian.

That style, for a start as well as the clasp.

I’m tempted to message the seller to ask what indicators are that it’s Georgian, in the politest way of course :angelic:
