I purchased this frame at a thrift store in North Rhine-Westphalia. Judging by the elaborate detail work, I assume it's hand carved. There was a scrap of thick paper glued onto the back, so I believe it was used as a picture frame instead of a mirror frame. It is about eight inches in diameter. Maybe something from the Black Forest? There are no identifiable stamps or signatures.

This looks suspiciously like syroco. Can we see the back?

I think you're right. I assumed that it was carved wood, until I did more research and realized it might be resin or synthetic. So, probably not an antique or worth anything, huh?

I'll post pictures of the back in a few minutes.

I'm not even sure if it's German, only that I purchased it in Germany. Edelweiss is a pretty common symbol throughout the alps, so it might be Austrian or Swiss.

Yep .... some kind of molded product. Not even sure it is syroco. Might just be modern resin. As such, just a decorative piece with minimal value.

Thank you. I'm still a beginner with antiques. I thought this would make a nice souvenir even if it wasn't worth anything, and it was only 2 euros so no loss.
