Featured Giant Costume

I got this the other day at thrift store, they where getting ready to throw it out. I said hold on, I'll take it. I have never seen anything like this, it's handmade for something just don't know what. It also has that musty smell of vintage but from what era and what was it made for ? it's so big, takes up most of my kitchen floor, the body size is for someone about 700 lbs. At first i thought the material was corduroy, it still might be but looks a little different.
I am so confused on this costume or whatever it is , any ideas ?

Looks like a theatre costume. For a Shakespearean play? Falstaff?

 

Probably for a giant parade figure. The Catalans, for example, do that - google gegants.

May I make a suggestion to you? If you are going to buy a lot of clothing and stuff invest 50 to 70 dollars in an ozone machine. It will remove all of the musty smells and odors from your stuff rather quickly.

Catalans came closer, what kind of material is it ? How old does anyone think it is ?

 

I googled Catalans, couldn't find anything like mine. Some others close but in museums only.
