Had no idea what I was buying (described in catalogue as glass jug) but I liked the quality. I feel that it is Middle Eastern.

    Can anybody confirm or otherwise?

    Thanks

I don't think Middle Eastern. I do think early 19th or even 18th C Bohemian. Or at a pinch, German, maybe . But most probably Bohemian. The colour and enamelling and that deer says that.

It is lovely John. I have seen similar enamelling on Hungarian glass, but it could be the other Austro-Hungarian culture hub, Bohemia, as obb said.

You might check Spanish - Gordiola

I did consider Gordiola or Spanish, but it doesn't look right for that. Not "gaudy" enough or gold enough and the decoration looked more Bohemia.

I found a Murano pattern called Canine and Foliate. It is very similar.
