I just found these yesterday. They’re very dirty… I’m not yet sure of the best way to clean them.

They're definitely carved wood with gold gilt (one has a broken thumb and one has a hole in its back where I can see the wood). Does anybody have any knowledge about the age of these and if they could be antique? They’re most likely Italian, but possibly German? The 3 smaller ones are 6-7”, and the bigger one is 9”. The bigger one is marked and it looks like a copyright symbol?

    Thank you in advance for any insight you may have! 1590D5E8-2A7D-4636-99F6-ABE544D4FCD7.jpeg FD0EA3B2-BDB5-496A-A457-4DC106C24528.jpeg 340AEE62-257E-4FFE-8AFD-E0AC4457DCC4.jpeg 4E02AD8F-E7A3-43A9-A625-2EB7156F6C43.jpeg 66116C4D-B4D7-47B1-A1A1-92B210395A36.jpeg 00EF4D96-A42D-4DB7-A544-9413C8F533B1.jpeg 95D5DA80-FD7E-4A92-B75F-A9DF29308CD4.jpeg

Thank you for the link. I don’t think it’s resin or plastic though. Here is a picture of the broken thumb on the marked one close up (very dusty/dirty right now). Not a very good picture but it is a very small spot. It looks wood to me?

What do you think the material is? It does not look or feel like plastic or plaster.
    Thank you for the reply.

And I realize that now that I know it’s definitely a copyright symbol.

Can mix wood sawdust with resin, like you can marble, slate, iron powders etc

In the auction world, we use the word 'composite' which canvases a large area of man made material.

I would guess a wood composite. Syroco was a company (obviously not this one) that used such in the '60s. And there were certainly many others.

I was wondering if they are plaster as well. I have had some Syroco items for sale and some were hard plastic and some were plaster.

    Chalkware perhaps?

No, definitely not plaster or chalkware. Here are a few more images. The hole in the back of one of the smaller 3 looks fibrous. I wonder what causes the red? Looks kind of creepy. And another clearer close up of the broken thumb of the marked one.

Hmmm very interesting with those new photos.

Looks like Dr. Pimple Popper got a lipoma off that one.
    Just kidding.
