    I think people use straight vinegar with no dilution.
    Me personally, I don't like vinegar on metal.

    Some use vinegar on a soft cloth, old soft toothbrush or q-tip.
    I don't like q-tips as they leave cotton fibers stuck in crevices.

    Since I don't use vinegar, you should wait for those who do to answer your question, as I could be wrong.
