    Wondering if someone hand painted this at home. I don't recall ever seeing a hand painted Heisey Lariat piece. Approximately 13 1/4 x 8 1/4 x 2. Reckon it's a serving dish/bowl[IMG] [IMG] ?

Most likely a Charleton decoration. Not rare but not terribly common either.

Thanks Don, I'll check that out. I use to have a website in my favorites for their decorations. Have to check to see if I still do.

I guess that would have to be reverse painted?

You would think so but this is painted on the inside.

Couldn't have been used much. A strange choice.

    I guess that's why they're rare.

Nice painting job but always wondered if Painting Heisey, or for that matter ANY collectible glass items, would decrease desirability thus lowering it's value?

It can decrease desirability, however, Charleton and a few other decorating companies, Lotus Decorating and Wheeling Decorating, have their own collectors. I would guess that Charleton decorated Lariat would sell for as much, maybe more, then undecorated Lariat, especially commonly found pieces.

Yeah - never though of that as do counterfeit coins that most people avoid DO have their collectors!!

Lariat never quit made it to the Candlewick popularity. Both plain patterns were extensively decorated by independents Ables, Wasserberg; Wheeling and Hughs (corn flower)

Did the Charleton people take down their web site after their book came out? Didn't they do a book?

The book was written by Michael and Lori Palmer "The Charleton Line". I think the page was theirs not Ables, Wasserberg & Co the company that made the Charleton painting.

Again, not receiving notification since my last post. Was receiving up until then. Good to hear about the Charleton collectors. Put this on the bay Thursday night 10 day auction with a fairly low opening bid. Had a bid within 24 hours.
