Been looking at all sorts of 20th century glass and cannot find this piece. It's 4ins high and nearly 9 ins long 2 ins wide. Looks Scandinavian but no sig or labels just a few scratches on base. Thanks for any info. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Thank you very much SIS and Johnnycb, I think you are correct. The style, feel and colours seem to be right. I'd just got stuck on Scandinavian and didn't think about Czech.
    Charity shop buy for £1.50.
    Thanks again.

It looks like it could be neodymium glass that changes color under different light sources. If it changes to blue under a fluorescent light, then it's neodymium. If not, it's exactly what it appears to be, a gorgeous vase!

It does change colour! I know very little about glass so this has been a bit of an education. I just buy things that look stylish and am prepared to live with them.
    Thanks ola

Looks Sklo to me. I'd have grabbed that in a heartbeat.

You might also look into Moser.
They did and I think still do a lot of neodymium glass

Thanks Cluttered I've had a look, the Zelezny Brod seems a better bet for colour and shape though. I haven't found another exactly the same but there's a couple similar from a male designer, (sorry his name escapes me) from the late 50s/60s. Looking at them I'm thinking Yes, this is one of yours.

yep. looks like neodymium to me. you might also check under Alexandrite glass also. That is a more common name for neodymium. Nice find!

Were you able to find this piece in one of the catalogs? The glassmessages site is a good place to ask if you're not finding the exact piece.

Didn't see it in any catalog, I'm not sure how to access these, or a glass messages site. (Not too tech savvy I'm afraid) I just put in the info I got from you and a similar piece without the nipped in bit came up by Klinger. This is a strange sort of vase, the flowers wouldn't really be standing up as with a normal vase, maybe he didn't make many of them hence lack of same.

Here is a link to the glass messages site. They are very savvy and you might find info on your piece there. It's not in my only Sklo book but there are catalogs online in various places.

This is a link to a person's photo albums and he has many catalogs to look through if you skip the non-pertinent. It can take awhile to view them all but there is lots there. I didn't look through for yours.

An auction catalog with some glass but not your piece.

Thank you SIS, I'll have a look tomorrow. I can find some nice pieces sometimes here in uk as the charity shops/ garage sales aren't very clued up. I only know enough to know something hand blown or something I don't see everywhere warranting further examination so looking through these catalogs will really help me.
    Thanks again
