Glass dish or candle holder carved? bottom help identify

I'm not sure what I have here. Because the way the bottom looks I don't know if it was molded or somehow carved on the bottom. It adds a lot of effect when looking through from the top. There are thousands of tiny bubbles in it and a few dark spots embedded in the glass There is no sign of a mark or signature. It measures around 6" by 4.5" I don't know if it's supposed to be a dish or candle holder, but it is very pretty. Thanks for any help or ideas.

Looks like we used to call cullet. Used to find all kinds of glass stuff like this at glass making plants. When a huge oven was cooled down the remaining glass was chipped out and discarded. I had several pieces of Vaseline glass in my rock garden. They weighted about 12 to 20 lbs. It was breathtaking in the sunlight. Alas someone most have thought they deserved more than me. One weekend they were gone.

For better or worse, I gravitate to strange things instead of running a way.

 

That pointed me in a direction that helped out and it made sense. I found that these are generally made of cullet and hand blown, many times in the Philippines or Australia, and designed to be set on teak driftwood. Thanks so much for the great lead.
