Glass item, rough pontil, vase?, paperweight? What is it?

    About 7 3/4" high. I found it in a group of paperweights at an estate sale, but can't find anything like it when searching paperweights. What is it? Any ideas are great, thanks for your time.

    It's a wotsit. ;) Seriously, usually just called a centre piece. No great age on that, and probably decent Chinese.

    It's a Whatchamacallit De Verre. Officially it's a vase form, but no one has ever put flowers in one to my knowledge.
