Glass oil lamp ID re-post from Antiques board

    It was suggested that i post this here so sorry for the re-post.
    It is 7" tall to top of glass and the square base is 3" square.

    looks to be Gillinder & Sons #420 'Westmoreland Block' c1889

    I can find G & S Westmoreland oil lamps, But none like this with the removable column.

    Gillinder is the only maker (that I know of) with this diagonal/spiral barrel block design motif.

    I believe you are totally correct on the maker and pattern. This must be just extremely rare.

    Rare yes, extrememly? , I don't know. I have one and have seem maybe 3 or 4 others in the wild. Nice find to say the least.

    Nice to hear someone elsa has one. I went back to that same store searching. for the shade and ended up finding another font with no column. I guess finding a shade would be next to impossible.

    I was in Massachusetts 3 or 4 years ago and found one at an antique shop in Boston. It had a genuine shade on it. Needless to say they were a little proud of it. If memory serves they wanted nearly $750 for it. I got mine for $50 which I thought was a pretty good deal.

    Great deal. I paid total $7.00 for the lamp and extra font.
