I picked this up yesterday at a consignment shop. I don't know what you call the technique--sort of spatter, but not really. It's cased and has applied teardrops. 6" tall, round opening, oval body. The bottom had a really old price tag which I've since removed. There's a good bit of shelf wear on the bottom edge, pontil is ground and polished.

Any thoughts on the origin? Is there a name for the technique?

    Thanks so much!

The process (of the body) is done by picking up white pieces of glass on the pink interior, when the pieces are small it's called 'frit pickup.' I don't know what its called when the pieces are large like this. Once they are picked up, the piece is warmed in, the peices are marvered (rolled on a plate of steel) until they are flush, then it's coated with a layer of clear glass and shaped to form. Then the teardrops are added. I suspect it was transferred to a punty rod before the teardrops. Otherwise, why the ground pontil!
