Hi all anyone have an idea of the age of these glasses came with case which is metal and also the original polishing cloth. They are only small so may be child's glasses. Not sure when 4 digit phone numbers were around in melbourne but maybe early to mid 90s after googling. 15222230502662.jpg 15222230502271.jpg 15222230501860.jpg 15222230904724.jpg 15222230904313.jpg 15222230904965.jpg

I think it will be difficult to get an exact year. I think you can find similar to yours on Ebay, and they are listed as from 1890's to early 1900's. Your glasses look to be in better condition than most except for the case. And the polishing cloth is particularly striking. Are the lenses clear? Maybe it's a floor model.

With the design of the temple hinges, they look like 60's John Lennon's glasses.

    "65 SWANSTON STREET, MELBOURNE C1"

A major street in the middle of the Melbourne CBD. I cross it every week.

"C1" is the postal code. Today, that would be "3000".

The alphanumeric postal code system was introduced to Melbourne in the 1920s and discontinued in the 60s. It was meant to mirror the one still used in London (C. EC, SW1 etc etc).

That would date these glasses between about 1928-1966. Given the style, I'd say closer to the 20s and 30s.

Here's a postal map of Melbourne from the 1920s. You can see "MELBOURNE C1" in the middle, where the CBD is...
