I think it was part of an exhibit?
    Tray is 13 1/2" x 2" bowl shaped sides.
    Any thoughts?

In the absence of any knowledgeable comments, I'll suggest it was part of a supply of pieces China brought over to sell as souvenirs of their exhibit. At least you can be sure it's not a cheap American knockoff.

It must be something for sure. I just listed it and received an email from someone in China asking me to put a bin on it for $250.00

I hope you've done an internet search for "Shen Shao An," "gold lacquer" and "Foochow China."
