Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I just purchase this silver plate box at an Estate Sale and not sure what the marking are. At First I thought it was English, but the middle mark does not fit. I hope someone will be able to recognize the mark and point me in the right direction. As always, I thank you in advance and appreciate all your responses. Take care and stay safe and well

I can't help you with the marks, but the scene seems to be situated in Venice, I see the 'fero' on the left. It is on the right in the photo below.

Don’t know what’s happening on that large gondola then.Looks like a mix between romance and fighting. Maybe a lovers’ quarrel.

I think large amounts of alcohol could be involved.:nailbiting:

I went looking for Hanau pseudomarks and didn't find a match of any kind. Now since there is no official list or registration for them and lots of known names that have no match should not be a big surprise. I can't think of any other place to go.

I agree, not a Hanau mark from the usual lists. They look familiar, but I wouldn't know where to start either.

Since the marks are so much like historic European (French, Belgian) marks but not quite, I think Hanau is a good bet. The type of excellent workmanship is also like Hanau pieces.

It looks like it could be, I just have to give it a cleaning to see. I will let you know and post a image if it is. Thank you for responding

I was able to clean it, but very hard to photograph. It looks like it could be a mark, but unfortunately I could not get a clear picture. Sorry

I'm wondering more about whether the repoussé image has historical significance, ie a major battle, or a famous folklore/event? Does anyone recognize the style of the boat/vessel or the time frame it may have existed?

Edit: I just saw the post from @Any Jewelry so it appears we know there's a 'gondola/fero' boat/vessel.

This also appears to possibly be a mark (maybe not):
