Happy Holidays to you all and your families! I hope all is well

I need your help with the age of this pendant. There is no makers mark other than sterling on the back. It is 46mm tall and 30mm wide. It weighs 14 grams. It does not look too modern to me, but you guys are the experts and I value your opinions. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Hmm, I'm surprised no one has answered yet. I'm not an expert but I'd say that the Sterling mark and lack of any mention of gold means the gold areas are plated and that coupled with the size of the bail and the style make it look more recent to me, as in last 25-30 years. JMHO!

25-30 years ago you could not mark pieces with more than 1 type of metal, besides that the "gold" piece is bezel set like a stone.

I agree that the exaggerated bail points to newer rather than older.

So, can you suggest an age for the piece?

I'd think this century. Some time within the last 20 years. Let's see what others say.

Thanks, I was wondering what hollyblue thought. I was suggesting the piece was sterling with gold plating with a recent age, like you, Debora. I was not the piece had any real gold but was not marked to indicate that.

Sometime in the 21st century, but that's all I've got.

It's hard to see what it really looks like from a photo.... The bail appears to hand stamped wire, the bottom border possibly twisted wire filled with solder. The Fleur-de-lis appears to be older with hand wriggle engraved areas, possibly found at a flea market table, etc. and the pendant was made by hobbyist/artisan. The sterling mark is considered illegal without a registered maker's mark in the USA.

Thank you for responding Holly, but why would you say the sterling mark is illegal? I have seen many pieces with just the sterling mark including southwestern pieces. I am just curious because I have never heard that before. Thank you

It has been the law for many years, most hobbyist,students,artisans.etc.,either don't know or choose to ignore it See paragraph 2 here..... https://www.mjsa.org/publications/compliance-guides/marking-stamping-regulations
