Good Morning All! I hope all is well with you and your family and Happy New Year to you!! I just got these pearls not sure if they are from the 30’s or the 60’s. I’m also assuming they are fresh water pearls, but don’t know what they are called. It looks like it was marked, but I think it was 925. Thank you in advance for your response and please stay safe.

Hi ezee. They are called Biwa pearls. Lovely soft colours.
Biwa pearl cultivation started in the 30s, but I think these are later. Maybe someone else knows.

Beat me to it. I've a string bought brand new in the 90s, they're still around. I'm inclined to think those are 80s or 90s: choker length with embellishment was a thing.

I do have one more question regarding the piece, if that is okay to ask. does the piece looks Japanese or more american. I ask because of the clasp and the sterling silver flower in the middle. Thank you

Biwa pearls are originally Japanese, so the necklace could be Japanese. The 925 mark is not an official Japanese assay mark, but I don't know how strict they are about marking.
