Happy Weekend! I'm wondering if anybody can tell me something about this tureen. All I've been "told" by the owner of a consignment store that he had a fairly well-off and informed friend who ran an antique store here in the US for many years, and for many of those years she had this tureen there and at a hefty price. Eventually she took it to her home for display, and the consignment store owner eventually bought it at her estate sale.

It caught the eye of both my husband and myself, and the store owner isn't doing too well business-wise and sold it to us for not very much. We'd pay the same whether it has any real value or just a newer, unusual piece, as we have a large spot to fill and liked the colors. Exceptional condition, except that is was quite dirty inside and out, even the inside of the top. I've given it one gentle cleaning and that's it.

What little I've read about it is that these tureens with coats of arms were made in China and sent to Spain and Portugal. I found an unsecure website that gives a little history of these, but wondered if there was an opinion on this site. Sorry about the number of photos. It's 13" tall. Any thoughts are appreciated, as I could be barking up the wrong tree here. Thank you!

I didn't put those felt pads on & wasn't sure how to orient the markings.

It is a recent copy, the base is made dirty to look 'antique'. It is even stamped over the dirt.;)

Yes, I read about the reproduction of these and pretty much expected that was the case. That's why i come here to get informed opinions - thanks!
