Lovely, sterling silver and looks like marcasites. It would help to find the maker and accurate date and if you cleaned it to show up the hallmarks. Also how big is it? The eyes might be glass or tiny rubies.

Found this similar piece on 1st Dibs. On sale for imo overpriced £435 from U.K. seller. Bit confusing as listed as Victorian but then given date of 1920s! The seller doesn't show any hallmarks on the piece.

The eyes could also be garnets :)

I agree, garnets are more likely.
Would love to see the polished marks, we could be looking at the UK, a clear date letter would help as well.

Some sellers. 1920s would be more likely.

Looks like a UK hallmark to me, too.

Dragonflies are a Thing, so I suspect it might get as much as fifty quid.

with that roll over clasp i'd say more like 1930s or 40s in date. Can just about make out the sterling lion on the set of three small stamps so yes, English. Will look lovely gently polished up to shine again.

Yup, I agree 1930s ish. If it's 40s, it will be late, we were a bit distracted.

I can't see the clasp very well, is it missing the central roll over part?
And the end of the pin seems to be bent, that can be solved in a minute though.

"A bit distracted" that's such a good way of putting it :)

That's a good point, it might be a wierd split clasp rather than a roll-over...

I have seen double C-clasps before, but I don't know of it was specific to a maker.

Edit: it is a roll over clasp, but an earlier type.

Maybe others' eyes are better this morning, but I don't see UK hallmarks. Plus why are there 2 places marked 925 - which would be unlikely on a UK made piece before the late 20th century? Imported from somewhere else?

I can make out one 925, I think, but not two - and that does show up on earlier bits. But a close up is needed.

There’s a 925 in the body middle and one on the wing with the rest of the hallmarks. I can see a lion passant, maybe Victoria head plus others.

    I love it.
1920s seems right to me, both for choice of dragonfly & construction.
Small lab grown rubies were already available on the market; this is what red rose cut stones may be.
Should be cleaned up enough to remove areas of verdigris.
Is this another mark, back of left antenna?

Thank you Peter, but could you polish the marks in the last photo so we can see what they actually look like? None of us are very good at reading Tarnish.:playful:
