Hello! We are 28yo twin brothers who have been asked to learn more about the possible value and details of some old porcelain plates our Great Aunt has in her house.
She gave us one of each type to research, but we would love some help!

Here are some pictures and the few details we know as of now: (Click thumbnails to see large images.)

    1) She has nine of these 10.5" Royal Doulton plates, apparently from circa 1922. Signed by artist J. H. Plant:

    2) Seven of these 9.5" Gilman Collamore bowls:

    3) Ten of these 9.5" Dresden plates:

    4) One of these 8.75" Nymph? Plates

    5) Eight of these 7.75" Chryso Ceramics Gold "cake" plates, I think. There's a note with these.. Something about a Science teacher named Emily Healey, and her sister Mary Healey.

Sorry we don't know more! Thank you all.

    1. Royal Doulton - Canterbury Cathedral plates were sold through D. H. Holmes Co of New Orleans.

    2. Those bowls are by Minton sold through Gilman Collamore - a very exclusive store on a par with Tiffany. The pattern S9907 may have been made for Gilman Collamore exclusively.

    3. The cobalt monogram plates are from Dresden Germany. You may be able to find the mark here.

4 Look for the Austrian mark at the same site. It's called a beehive or something else that I can't remember at the moment. Many companies copied this mark from the original.
Wait for someone else to give better information on this.

5 Gold plates, sorry can't read the mark. Pattern number is 1172 Probably 24K gold paint.

All of the plates are absolutely gorgeous. Very high end.

Thank you very very much! Good info. They are beautiful I know!
My Aunt apparently would only take "top dollar" for these, but I'm not sure how to obtain that, probably not on Ebay, lol.

Are you already a seller on ebay?
If not, I wouldn't try selling them there.

Were are you? US? Metro area?
Wait for others to suggest selling venues.

There's plenty of J H PLant plates out there, some vastly overpriced. I'd be looking at a decent auction house: here, they'd be about 80 to 120 each.

Less in my area, probably. It's the Age of Ikea alas.

You may want to contact Brunk Auctions in Asheville. They deal in high end pieces.

I agree, with a high end auction house. I don't think you will get anything on ebay.
Cost of packing and shipping will override the value of the plates.

    They really are quite lovely.

I'm not sure if that link will show you the price. If not, it sold for $850.

Small update if anyone is curious. We emailed Brunk Auctions here in Asheville and received an email saying "...Unfortunately, the china market is pretty low at this time and individual plates are bringing very little...We really do not have a good market for the plates."

Sorry to hear they weren't interested.
Maybe someone can think of other high end auctions to suggest.
Doesn't hurt to ask a couple more.

Some other auction house suggestions (not as close as Asheville, but hopefully more receptive). Quinn's in Falls Church, VA and Weschler's in Rockville, MD. Both do weekly auctions but have special, higher end auctions periodically. Both are nice, family owned businesses. We've bought from both over the years.
