DSC00047.jpg DSC00050.jpg DSC00052 (1).jpg DSC00053 (1).jpg Hi there, my first post here, hope I'm putting this in the right place. I believe these are made from resin. I am puzzled why they are different in size, hand carved? I can't seem to find out anything about them, where they were made, age, value (can I ask that). Thanks in advance!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Welcome, MML. I'm not sure why your picture(s) didn't come through. If you got a message that they were too large you will have to resize them to make them smaller. There should be a way to do that on your device, whether computer or tablet or phone...

Sorry about that, I shouldn't have posted it before I figured out how to resize the photos.

Maybe these should be in the pottery, glass, and porcelain forum? This is generally framed artwork and such. You might get more input there.

But she says they seem to be made of resin, not glass (despite the way they look at first glance at the pictures.)

My mom said after ww2 a lot of stuff was made out of acrylic. Id have sworn these were glass.

I knew "resin" didn't really sound right. Acrylic is much more likely.

I thought they were glass at first also, they were so dirty. I gave them a good washing but couldn't get the grime off. Used a plastic cleaner that I had and that took away the cloudiness and some of the grim on them. They could still use more polishing but my arm needs to rest.

If they are acrylic, how do you think they were made? Is Lucite the same thing?

Very interesting bookends! I don't have any info but am glad that others could help. And I'm glad you figured out the picture posting.
