    Hi there! My name's Matt. I'm happy to have found this forum and its wealth of help and advice! Some really interesting posts and a lot of very knowledgable people! To that end I was wondering of anyone can help me identify the marks on this ring. It was bought in a lot of silver, but I believe it to be gold, 9ct probably. But the marks are on the outside of the shank, and for the life of me I can't quite make them out as they are all possible to be read either way up! Does anyone recognise them please?     Welcome, Matt.
    It is a Polish gold mark, post-1963, but I would have to check the fineness.

    The number 6 indicates .333 gold fineness, which is 8ct, so you were pretty close.

    Edit: The letter H is the assay mark of the town of Chorzów in Silesia, southern Poland.

    Thank you! I had got as far as it probably being eastern (central) European, with the marks on the outside of the shank, but then hit a wall! I shall try and look it up! :)

    Nice ring. Polish is often marked on the exterior of the band, as was USSR jewellery too.
