Greetings, I regularly like to go to estate sales and garage sales to see what I can find. If something is worth it's weight, I buy it. I've got this dagger that I've been trying (not that hard) to identify and am finally getting around to it properly.

Maybe you guys and gals can help...

Not sure how I post photos yet but I did upload them in my media collection. Please advise and I'll post them here.

Thanks and I look forward to our discussions.

it's lovely to see all that silver but it makes seeing and ID-ing the blade difficult.

can you shoot the blade with a neutral background... pls !:)

Sure will. Give me a bit.

I am thinking it's a Japanese piece from what I can tell.

Oooh yes, very much resembles the Tibetan style.

Yes, Tibetan imo. It is a beauty, very nice find.
I still would like to see the entire blade, but the style of the silver repoussé and the encrusted jewels with teardrop shaped turquoises are very Tibetan/Himalayan. The floral carved stones look like carnelian, rather than the usual coral. It is the same principle, in Himalayan culture it is the colour that counts.

Also, Japan doesn't use a Himalayan script.;)
