Griffoul bronze letter opener

    Can anyone give me any information on this letter opener I have had no luck. Thanks in advance

    It looks like a business gift/promo item. They used to make things like this to hand out to prospective clients, or to current ones. Newark was an important metal manufacturing area, so no surprise about where it came from. I don't know a thing about the companies involved.

    Page 4 shows an advertisement for Monarch Engineering etc.

    Between the two links, it looks like there are 9 pages which show "something" that Monarch Engineering etc. was involved in. ;)

    This link yourturn... included is an old magazine "Master Railway Mechanic" and has images of loads of wonderful machines and tools, many now obsolete. One in there I've never heard of takes scrap steel and roll-squeezes it into "new" shapes so you can re-use it. Gotta git me one a them thar thangs! The Ajax Reclaiming Roll, page 3.
