Guys an antique mirror. any idea

Here i have attached a pic of an antique mirror. any idea of it. Its kind of very heavy for its size. not sure whether the frame is silver. But lot of corrosion found through out its surface.

 

Yeah. Don't break it. With somethin' that large, you're liable to get seven decades' bad luck!

That said, I think the frame is probably spelter or possibly pewter (?). Something THAT large in SILVER would cost a bloody mint, I'm thinking.

 

Is it possible to show a picture of the back? Folks will probably want to see to give them a better idea about the age/overall impression.

 

THe pictures are rather poor but it does look like silver. Quite possibly silver plate, though.

You could see how it responds to silver polish, there is nothing like silver for responding quickly to the correct polish. One suggestion is some silver dip on a cloth, this will have no effect on pewter or other metals, but should rapidly de-tarnish silver.

Pictures taken in good light with better contrast and focus would help, outside would be the best place to take them, indoors may look bright but the human eye is not a good light meter. Pictures of the back are as important as the front.

In the unlikely event the piece is solid silver, the would be some marks somewhere, but they'd be tiny and hard to find.

The frame may be an electrotype.

 

Thanks guys i will upload the pictures in good condition today. and also i will take some pictures from the back of the screen. is pewter rather heavy. because this is frame is unusually heavy compared to a normal frame made of steel or aluminium.

 

with all the pot marks it looks like a casting ....& pewter is not that heavy...but if solid....well anything hat huge is gonna be a handfull !

 

guys i got some closer look pics. and i believe it is made of alloy metal. it can't be that expensive can it?? any way here are the pics.
