Hand made perhaps antique trinket box?

    Hi everyone, newbie here….I’d love to know more about this box, it was my grans, passed down to my mum, now passed down to me, it’s always been there sat on a shelf. I’d love to know it’s origins?
    First post here so hope I’ve downloaded the picture ok….

    I would think that was a little souvenir from Florence, Italy. Typically they date to the start of mass tourism -- 1960s -- or later. Here's something similar (with a painting by Raphael) and if you do an internet search for "Florentine Gilt Box Madonna Child" others will appear.

    Agreed. I bought similar ones in Italy in the sixties.

    Got it. 'Madonna and Child' by Carlo Dolci. c.1675. It will surprise no one that the original is in the Pitti.

    I have a little box like this too! My ex and I had a second hand store from 1976-1979 and it came in with a box lot and I liked little boxes.
