Hi all, I think this tray is from Mexico, but not certain. Can anyone confirm location, style name and approx age? There are no markings on the bottom.

    Thanks greatly... photo_1600950811038.jpg

Is it ceramic? If so, I'm not sure I'd call it a tray.

Amy, the bottom of items frequently provides an indication of age. That's why photographs are always requested of both top and bottom, regardless of markings.

Oh, and your item is from México. From the design, it appears to be an example of pottery from Tonala. A large flat dish? (Hard to tell from photograph.)

Hi, okay, I will send pics of no-marked items going forward. How are you able to discern age just by looking at it?

The tray has sides, about 11/2 tall.

I will look up Tonala. Thanks...

The reason we like to see the back, mark or no, is to see how it was finished. If it is glazed or not. And sometimes the camera will actually pick up marks that you don't see with your eyes.

You are asking for help. We are trying to help you, so it would help us, if you would furnish extra pictures when asked.

I just looked them up, and excited to see I have three other beautiful pieces most likely from there. I guess I love their style!

You don't give overall size but... Given the height of the sides, platter may be a more accurate description.
