Featured handfull of old photos, some military

hey folks

a few photographs i picked up from a book fare, there was quite a few for 20p each, i bought some that i thought were interesting

any thoughts/info appreciated

I did some searching on the one with Professor Millin and haven't found him yet. In looking up K.L.H. the only thing I found that it might stand for is Knight of the Legion of Honour.

I did find a man named Aubin Louis Millin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aubin-Louis_Millin_de_Grandmaison) who was in the Legion of Honour, among other things. He was French -- he died in 1818, though, before photography was invented. So this would not be him.

Otherwise, my favorites are the photo (postcard?) of the man in uniform in front of what looks like a painted backdrop that includes airplanes. And also the cabinet card photo of the woman playing a musical instrument (mandolin?).

 

Can you do a higher resolution shot of the first two?

 

"KLH" could be Kimberley Light Horse Regiment.

yeah looks like a bowlback mandolin
