She was only with me for about a week, in the early fall of 1970, an' offered this as a parting gift; it had been only recently finished, intended for a Craft Fair to have been held in San Francisco, her home town. Her name was Jacquelyn; I've not heard from or of her since. 30 links plus a classic closure, ~31" long, ~15 grams, almost certainly sterling.
I wore it steadily for ~30 years, an' occasionally for a few days at a time, since then; it hangs over my bed by itself when not around my neck. I love it very much for itself, but more for the memories of our youthful fling...oh, what a week! Thanks for lookin'! @stracci

What a great shape and a wonderful memory to go with it. Who needs a whole collection when one loved piece will do? :D

What a great story. The best things we own are the ones with such fine memories attached.

One of my dearest pieces of jewelry is a diamond heart necklace that a boyfriend gave me over 30 years ago. He unfortunately passed away not too long after we broke up.

    Thanks for sharing your story.

When I was 20 & 21 I walked and hitchhiked from New England to CO down the SW into CA back to SW back to CA up and down the coast to OR back to New England. Some sweet little romances along the way. Several young ladies made me necklaces. Hemp with natural materials or hand blown glass. There was a big neo hippie type movement in the early 2000’s. I seemed to find those people everywhere along the way. I was finding work at music festivals and concerts on my route so no surprise. The hemp eventually wears down but I’ve kept remnants. Great memories. The antler tip on one sheared the hemp while I was walking a beach in the Fort Bragg area, never got that one back. Nice silver necklace and even better story of how it came to be.
