Wife owns these two cannons which were passed at the recent auction, fortunately. She is having them returned from ME to VA. These I really liked and somehow in the confusion of getting hundreds of items ready for auction, a kind of low reserve price was put on them and she didn't catch it until too late. But fortunately no one likes them as much as we do, so they'll probably wind up greeting visitors entering the business. Ummmmm... Hazel is giving me lessons in rhetoric, so... May I try? Glad you didn't SHOOT yourself in the foot? Glad nobody pulled the TRIGGRER on them at the auction? Glad you AIM to enjoy them? Glad you didn't have to FIRE your wife? Glad you didn't BLOW UP at your wife? Sorry...
. We had another iron Cannon in our first auction that didn't sell. It was unpainted with a corroded, dull surface all over. It was a rare, desirable Cannon but the appearance was too much of a turnoff I guess. We hired a man we knew who lived near the auction house to paint that Cannon gloss black before the second auction, where it was sold. The two Afghan cannons had a dull, rusty look so we painted them gloss black before they went to auction, but they did not sell so we will get them back. It doesn't hurt the value of an iron Cannon to paint it, but a non-epoxy (removeable) paint should be used.
