Has anyone heard of this artist?

    Hi has anyone heard of an artist called Ambrose Fermini (1811-1883) Italian, and are his original paitings of any value?

    Here we have "Tavern of the Trowel"

    Have you googled him at all? Googled this piece?

    I suspect you do not have an original painting, but rather a giclée print.

    It does look like a print to me too. They print on a canvas texture to give the impression it’s an original. Can you show the back please?

    Yes, it is. I’m not so sure now about what you have got. The shine made me think it was a textured print but youll need others on the forum to give you better info. Looks pretty clean regarding the pine inner and canvas, any nails or tacks you can see?

    For future reference, when expecting 100+ years in an oil painting, a clean light canvas back is a concern.

    There are exceptions (e.g., a painting that's been lined), but it's a BIG red flag.

    A quick internet search identifies the original as being in a museum in Milan.
