HAS MY ESTATE SALE FIND RICOH DIACORD CAMERA BEEN IN SPACE?

I found this camera along with a lot of other antique/vintage cameras at a estate sale in Coral Gables last week.
While I was looking them over I saw this one had a govt. serial number, so I copied it & googled:
vintage camera has CONTRACT NAS7-100 GOVT. ID NO.

It brought me a link whose synopsis said:
A description of work accomplished under Contract NAS 7·100 between .... The Viking Project primary mission ended on November 15 ... orbiter cameras have observed new and often puzzling terrain and .... precipitating cloud identification in support of the mi- crowave ...

So...! Can I list this as a NASA or JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory - OR as a space camera??!!

 

The Viking orbiters were never intended to (and did not) return to Earth, from what I can tell, so unless this particular unit was used in earlier test launches that did return, then no you probably ought not say it's for sure been in "space."

You were certainly in the right neighborhood for things space-related to show up at an estate sale, though.

 

Probably not in space, but it was probably used to take pictures of things that did go into space. These twin lens jobbers were popular for photographers in the 50s and into the 60s. I learned to shoot with one that was older than I was.

 

Definitely didn't go into space, I didn't even look at the brand. They'd have taken Kodak or maybe Leica, but not a second tier brand like Ricoh.
