Have you seen a nail studded wooden egg?

I've been looking for something similar for a long time and haven't found anything. This "egg" as I am calling it seems to be lovingly hand sanded and decorated with copper and silver nail heads (?)

Any help or direction would be much appreciated!

Wow!. That's amazing...... and a labor of love.

Edit: looks like it took a long time to make though and maybe just a "One Off" piece!!!!!!

Pique work, they did it a lot for snuff boxes in 19th century. Not sure how old yours is though.

Looks like Eastern European to me, maybe inspired in the Orthodox Easter egg tradition.

    Hello AntiqueAnimals,
I cannot tell you exactly what area this egg belongs. Wooden pieces of different kind are very popular in the Carpathians. However, I think it's not typical for that area. Alos, they do not use silver for decoration. For me, it's more like artistic souvenir piece. Want to show you another artistic egg decorated with nail heads which I found at the annual egg show downtown Kyiv (Ukraine). Egg.jpg

Apparently, they also do it with real eggs!

Wow thanks everyone! I got some excellent leads from these replies- I had not seen any of these eggs or nail head decorations or even heard of piquing (pique work?)

I know where the egg has been for approx 70 years, beyond that I have no clue. It is one of my favorites though!
