Heavy piece. Looks like a cleaver of some sorts. Has markings, but some are hard to make out. One part looks to say TCM 794. It looks like it was attached to something, and not just meant to be used by hand. Measures 9 1/2 inches long. Probably belongs on some farm implement. Any ideas?

    Thanks for looking.

I always think of a cleaver as a kitchen instrument.
This looks more like a weapon or axe head.

Tobacco axe? Silage cutter? Peat/turf spade?

The "handle" part is under 3 1/2 inches long, which makes it a bit awkward to grip. The slot on the one side and the indents at the top on the other side make me think it fit into something else.

Have no clue but that could hurt something real bad.

I can't find anything like it. For a bit, I thought I was onto something with "pig splitters," but no, that's not it.

The searches nearly made me go vegan, though.

Where is it located? There may be some special activity in that area that it belongs to. I'm thinking in England there are specialized tools to work on thatched roofs that you wouldn't find here in the States for example
