Quite a bit of wear to the base. About 6" across and 2" high - heavy - weighs in at 2 pounds. Flat polished base. Heavy wear to the base but not chipped or cracked. Italian? Other european?

    Thanks again!

    My first thought is Czech

    and I'm leaning towards Chribska

Looks like it might be Alexandrite color. See if it turns blue in florescent light/ or LED light Could be Tiffin Twilight Color cigar ashtray. I'll check my books later when I have time.
Could also be Czech or Murano.

Looking closer I don't think it is tiffin. Probably Czech or Murano.

Murano was my first guess, but Czech is a possiblity. IMHO, you probably won't be able to nail it down

I'll throw Chalet out there as another possibility.

    Don,

Not Chalet but it could be mistaken for easily enough.

Aaroncab. I'm almost (99%) sure it is alexandrite, if so.....good for you! I would bill it as a cigar ashtray, if you decide to sell it.

Thank you everyone for your generous help! I will see if I can determine if it is indeed alexandrite. Otherwise I'll take what seems to be the consensus opinion here of either Czech or Murano - I have to say that shape wise it does indeed resemble some of the Chribska or Hosbodka pieces I've seen online. Thanks again!

I'll be curious to know if it is alexandrite. Please let us know.

I've looked at it now under sunlight, incandescent light, LED light, and flourescent (compact flourescent) - no significant color change that I can detect - it has that magenta/plum color no matter which light source. So - I think we can say not alexandrite. Thanks again everyone!
