Featured Heavy necklace

Very heavy. Not real gold obviously. About 16”. The hand clasp is very cool. Anyone have any details about it??

 

Have you actually tested it? It's in the style of Victorian and late Georgian sentimental jewellery.

I've seen it on period stuff. Victorian symbolism and all that.

 

Interesting. I think I see some green spots and some color loss on the clasp, so probably it's not gold, but would be curious to know more about who could produce replicas of such eccentric things.

 

I haven’t tested it but it’s magnetic (bummer). Not sure as to where I can find more information about it which is why I reached out to “you guys”....

Testing with a magnet really doesn't tell you much,did you know a lot of platinum jewelry is magnetic?

 

In this case though I think the OP is right and it's not fine metal. The jump ring isn't soldered on the clasp, and you bet your behind it would have been. They usually don't solder them on modern silver, but old gold generally did.
