Hello all

    Hello everyone, thank you for the add.

    Here’s my story! My ninety-one year old mother has just moved to assisted living, and I am working on emptying the family home to rent it out. Thankfully, there’s a large room above the garage (my late father’s office/study) which we are not renting out - so many treasured pieces of furniture and art can stay there safely for a while, while we decide who gets to be the next custodian of what.

    Everywhere I turn, I am finding new areas in which I have no experience - English china, handmade lace, vintage shoes, lineol animals, fountain pens, etc. so I am hoping that everyone’s expertise here will help guide my decisions as I go. I am often overwhelmed, but I am committed to understanding what everything is, so that I honor the past and preserve at least some of it for the future.

    Welcome to the forums! Good on you for taking charge of this task. However it is fairly thankless in my experience, families seem to either fight over every last candlestick or don't want any of that "old dusty stuff".
