    Hello all,

Can somebody please help with this Chinese water colour. It was bought by us in the 90s. Unfortunately the seller could not tell us more about the artist or date. Can somebody maybe read what the text says. We were always curious to know where it's painted and now we think that the text maybe mention this.

    Any ideas?
    Thank you

    Great site!

If the edit button is still showing in your post, you may want to go back and say something like:

Can someone help with translation of inscription on Chinese painting.

I didn't clarify that very well. I'm talking about the title.

No info on the back. But I just removed it from the frame and it reads in English language in pencil "painted in 1892".

Are you sure it is Chinese? From the clothing and the architecture I would think it has Japanese origin...

It was sold as a Chinese. Had a look in to this and I think you could be right. Clothing look indeed Japanese.

    Thx all

Japanese artist "De Yong Xin Ming", but sorry I cannot translate it into Japanese, nor he is a famous artist.
