Good Morning from the U.S. Midwest!
And an early one it is. Still dark, in fact. Perhaps some of you visual sleuths can lend me a hand here. Just scored this French clock and sculptural group from a show in Pennsylvania. Now it's in the Midwest, ha ha.
Anyway, I know very little about it, except that I love it and got it for a great price. It's over 3 feet tall U.S. (over 91 CM) and weighs about 100 pounds (45 KG). The green (Italian) marble base is half of that. The clock movement is not signed, but is typical of Parisian-made movements ca. 1880. Somewhat surprisingly, the bronze sculpture group, featuring two joyful ladies holding cupid on a blanketed platform, is not signed either. BTW, cupid has just loosed his arrow at you, the viewer, perhaps reminding you that life is fleeting and love is in the air.
I regret the dark photos, but it's still night and internal illumination in this part of the house is not the brightest.
I can't find anything like this group anywhere. Can you?

Interestingly, sold by an antique dealer in Zaragoza, which is not terribly far from France.

    Love it, Hopps.

It is interesting that all of the examples above, and all of the ones I found has him holding a torch, and on yours, he's holding a bow.

    Great info Debora!
There must be variations in the packages you could purchase. I tested the clock and sculptural group with a magnet, and they are not corrugated iron as indicated in the Spanish description, but bronze. Also, as noted above, Cupid has a bow with my piece, but not with others.

It's a beauty Ghop. Have you seen that HBO show The Gilded Age ? The scenes filmed at the tennis club in Newport were a trip.
You could've been in the show, provided you were highly skilled at 1880's Tennis !

Beauuuuutiful. Whenever there's a new show piece from you I know I'm in for a great of eyes and jealousy! :p I will live vicariously though you. Beautiful forms and masterful sculpting. It's the kind of thing you could look at for hours.

I watch this but never have I seen a show so much about nearly nothing lollll. Moreso than Downton Abbey, though Christine Baranski does her damnest to be the much appreciated American Dame Maggie Smith sass vector. I enjoy period drama though so I watch and complain about inaccuracies and bad cameos to my poor husband. :playful:
