At least i think it is advertising?
Found this little guy at my local thrift this morning and had to have it.
He stands about 5 3/4" tall, The metal thermometer has glass lens.
At first i thought it was wood, But maybe resin, Hard and heavy.

The Conn. abbreviation indicates it's pre-1963 when the state abbreviation changed to Ct.

Cooper is still manufacturing oven thermometers and what's printed on there doesn't look like advertising to me. Cute though! I would have bought it too!

The character is an old souse and clock face Art Deco. So I'd think 1930s or 1940s right.

    It's not resin.
It's pressed sawdust or wood fibers. 1930s

Wood fiber sounds good. I listed it and already has a bid. Only an hour

See the red nose? The figure on your thermometer really is a "souse" or a habitual drunkard. 1930s slang. W.C. Fields often played one. In fact, in The Bank Dick his character was named Sousé. As an inside joke.
