    Is there an artist by the name of A. Pekey ?

    I'd think that was a gaucho on the Argentinan pampas. The board is stamped "Tipo-C" which is Spanish for "Type-C."

    Duh... After the artist's name is written R.A. which is an abbreviation for República Argentina.

    Thank you everybody for the responses and thoughts and to blooey not sure what is up with the horses face it is funny looking kinda bothers me every time I look at it but I guess it is what it is thanks again everyone for the responses. Matt

    I'm going to revise my reading of the signature. Think it reads "Pereya" which is a Spanish surname. The scene does appear to be Argentina. There was a well known Argentinian illustrator in the 1950s named Pablo A. Pereyra but can't find anything of his in the style above. Here's an example of his work.
