Help I/D parachute pack

hello everybody I found this parachute pack on the side of the road about 12 years ago and was wonderining what it was used on and maybe a age I have always wanted to pull the pin but figured probably not a good idea it’s stamped us navy something parachute pack any info would be great.

 

It’s about 19 1/2” across in size

 

Sorry I have no info on your parachute, but I would not pull the cord!

 

That’s used by the US Navy to retard the descent of air-dropped munitions, for example, underwater mines. If you’d looked around more you might have found the weapon to which it was attached.

 

Thank you springfld for you info I tryed to figure what it was used for years ago and forgot about it till I cleaned of the shed this weekend and saw it again. And thanks huntingtreasure for you agreement on not pulling the pin.
